I've lived all over the country. I love sushi. Therefore, I've tried sushi everywhere - and this place, hands down, is the best sushi restaurant ANYWHERE! The food is amazing - it is always freshly prepared and delicious. The tempura is crunchy but not thick and soggy like you get at some places. I highly recommend the crispy spicy tuna - you will be so happy if you try it. The service is wonderful - you never have to ask for anything. They anticipate your needs beautifully. Just when you're thinking "I could use some more water" you look over and you have a filled glass. Whenever my husband and I want to go out to dinner this is the first place we think to go!

Ari-ya has been my favorite sushi place in the neighborhood for a few years, and remains somewhat of a secret. First note, if you're planning on ordering a philadelphia roll or want to bitch about no parking, this isn't the place for you--you'd definitely be more comfortable at a "casual dining restaurant" in the 'burbs. But if you enjoy a quiet, candlelit patio tucked beneath towering hedges and sushi--the real stuff, not the dumbed down rolls you'll find at an expensive place on Sunset--that is neither pretentious or overpriced, you'll find Ari-ya to be a great retreat. I definitely recommend sitting at the bar at least once, and letting the chef select your meal. He creates amazing dishes using the freshest fish available. We discovered he personally drives to the fish market every day at dawn to select the best fish available, which makes ordering the specials, or leaving up to him to choose, a safe choice.
Some of my favorite dishes are the halibut carpaccio with lemon oil and red pepper, the ono with jalapeno sauce, the crispy spicy tuna never fails, and their toro melts in your mouth, when it's available. All are served in generous portions and relatively inexpensive. If they have bluefin tuna available, don't hesitate to order. You won't be disappointed. The eel is perfectly sweet as well.

To top things off, their servers couldn't be more attentive. On our most recent visit, our table was a little wobbly (due to the warping in the wood floors outdoors), so the manager spent a few minutes on all fours under the table fixing it. In the process the rocking table caused her to spill a little of our saki, a tiny amount. We didn't have to say a word and they came back with a new saki, on the house. They're nice, helpful, and they don't take their regular customers for granted, which is a breath of fresh air in this town.

Im pretty new to sushi and japanese food. Ariya has a wonderful menu! Evrytime we go we try new things but have our favorite shirmp and eggplant (amazing) and pink peppercorn salad. The rolls are fresh a must try is the OMG roll. I have brought many people here and everyone has enjoyed it even the sushi "veterans" staff is friendly and prices are very reasonable.

Treating myself with such delicious fishes at Ariya is one of the most exciting and anticipating weekend events to me. People you meet there are generally freindly and seems happy and enjoy their food just like I do. Chef's are prefessional and service is fantastic. Having good time with friends and with such a good food (try salmon or halibut carpachio - ooh ooh ooh~~~you'll love it) what more do you want. Not only the food but the atmosphere seems improving, too.

Although the place is small, the ambience is nice and the sushi is fabulous. At lunchtime, they have a great menu of specials that have various combinations of sushi, salad, and/or teriyaki. Their salmon salad combination which includes a generous portion of sushi is a steal for the price.

I love sushi, I tried sushi for the first time in 1980, so I have been to many sushi places in L.A. Ari-Ya is by far my favorite place. The best sushi, very fresh, and delicious. The service is so friendly. I work in television and have brought many clients, and Ari-Ya has become their favorite place. Even my sister will drive from Redondo Beach to enjoy sushi here with me, we think it is that good. On a Saturday night my girfriend and I will get a DVD and Ari-Ya take out and that is a perfect stay at home night.
